Beginnings
Over the years, I've started and deleted many a blog. I desire to write and build friendships, but I often don't have the staying power that a blog requires.
And yet, here I am once again.
I'll do my best, but I'm not making any promises. I'd love to make friends online (which could eventually become real-life friends), but I want to be sure that I'm giving the majority of my attentions to my husband and the few (but dear!) friends I have in real life. As/if this blog grows, I'll be happy to give it more attention. My point is that I don't want to give attention to something that isn't bearing fruit in my life.
I'm not sure where to start beyond all that. Perhaps you'd like to hear about my day so far?
This morning was much like any other Saturday morning, except this one has a surprising ending. My husband (I'll have to share more about him at some point!) and I woke up fairly early, took care of our dog Byron, and headed out to meet the Spa Pacers, our local running club, for our weekly long run at 7:00 a.m.
I am currently training for the Little Rock Half-Marathon, and my training schedule called for an 8-mile run. I'm not the best runner: it's still incredibly difficult for me, and I'm not a very fast runner, i.e. I'm always at the back of the pack. I keep trying, though!
I finished my run with an overall pace of 12:28/mile. Not too bad for a long run, especially in the rain. I don't follow a walk/run schedule at this point, but I do bless myself with walking breaks...probably more than I should. Running is such a mental sport, and my psyche tells me my body can't do as much as I think it can. I don't win the mental battle very often, but my odds are starting to improve!
The husband had to run 16 miles, so I waited for him and then we went to breakfast at a local diner. I love looking forward to post-run food!
As we were finishing up our meal, I spotted Heather of Heather's Dish and approached her and her family to say hello. I felt like the biggest goober, but they were so kind, despite my having interrupted their time together. I live in a quiet Arkansas town, and it's so unlikely to see someone famous in the blogging world. Thanks for being so kind, Heather, Nate, and Weston!
How's that for a surprise element to my Saturday morning!
I now plan to relax until tonight. We have dinner plans with three other young couples from our running club, and I'm looking forward to it! Happy Saturday, everyone!
